Martinsville Area Community Foundation administers four scholarship funds to assist capable and deserving students based on the criteria established by fund donors. All awards are subject to the availability of funds. Specifics of the Foundation's scholarship program are subject to change from time to time. Scholarship Funds

The Rangeley Educational Fund will provide scholarships to further the education of young men and women pursuing study in technical, vocational, academic or professional fields, with preference given to students from Martinsville and Henry County.

The Lester Educational Fund will provide scholarships to help students obtain an education in a profession or vocation, with preference given to students from Martinsville, Henry County and Franklin County, Virginia.

The LaPrade Educational Fund will provide scholarships to further the education of young men and women who appear to be able, deserving, and in real need of financial assistance in their post high school education in the fields of either technical, vocational, academic or professional education, with preference given to students from the City of Martinsville, Henry County, Franklin County, and Pittsylvania County.

The Hall Educational Fund will provide scholarships to qualified and needy young men and women who will enroll in, or are enrolled in, an accredited four year college or university that is associated with the United Methodist Church. While applicants may pursue any course of study, preference will be given to students studying to become a Methodist minister. Further, preference will be given to students from the City of Martinsville, and the counties of Henry, Patrick, Franklin and Pittsylvania.

Who May Apply?

Graduating high school seniors, current college students, or anyone intending to begin a program at an accredited two- or four-year college or university, or technical/vocational school, or students in a graduate program may apply.

Typical Scholarship Application and Grant Cycle

JanuaryScholarship application packets are made available to the general public.
January - MarchReview scholarship descriptions to determine the scholarship for which you apply. Complete and deliver application along with all support materials to MACF.
April 1APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR STUDENTS.
April - MayScholarship Committee meets and selects recipients.
May - JuneScholarship recipients will be notified of their award(s).
June 30Grant payment mailed to college or university in student's name; unless otherwise noted.
